Railway Bridge Emden

Ceremonial Opening

On January 19th 2016 the railway bridge across the southern bypass of Emden was opened for traffic by the Minister for Economics, Labour and Transport of the Lower Saxony State Government.

The bridge was built in a record time of 6 months. The foundation and substructure was hereby prepared under traffic by using temporary bridge constructions. The superstructure with a total weight of 550t was launched into position by SPMT modules during a 2-week track shutdown.

The consulting office GRASSL was responsible for the multiple design stages ranging from preliminary investigations to technical welding examinations including production supervision and quality control.

The structural checking was conducted by the licensed checking engineer Dr.-Ing. Andreas Schneider and his team.
