The current long weekend reminds us of 14 August 2023 – a long weekend in southern Germany. On 13 August 2023, the Schierstein Bridge was given the all-clear for traffic, and at 5 a.m. on 14 August 2023 vehicles were finally rolling over the new bridge.

The replacement of the Schierstein Bridge, which connects the cities of and Wiesbaden, and the widening of the motorway to six lanes had been ongoing since the autumn of 2013. In the past few years, these construction measures had created a bottleneck that has now finally been removed, relieving the region of traffic.

GRASSL carried out the assembly design on behalf of Stahlbau ARGE Max Bögl and Plauen Stahl Technologie. Whether temporary stacks, brackets, towers or the large derricks used to close the gaps over water – everything temporary needed for the assembly of the steel members was designed by us.

We and all other participants are very pleased about the conclusion of this important infrastructure project.
