Cutting of the first sod for the construction of the B474n, Datteln bypass
On 4 October 2019, the first sod was formally cut for construction of the B474N, including the construction of a bridge structure across the Dortmund-Ems Canal. The construction project was formally begun in the presence of Gerhard Rühmkorf, Principal Under-Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, Hendrik Wüst, the transport minister for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Elfriede Sauerwein-Braksiek, director of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Road Construction Company. The planned bridge structure has a total length of approximately 206 m. It comprises the canal bridge, a tied-arch bridge with a span of 129 m and two approach spans of approximately 75 m. The bridge structure features two traffic lanes and a separate pedestrian and cycle track.
Ingenieurbüro GRASSL GmbH has carried out the design and visualisation of the bridge and invited tenders on behalf of the North Rhine Westphalia State Road Construction Company.
