Hayns Park Bridge

Opened to traffic

On 9 April 2020, the new Hayns Park Bridge in Hamburg Eppendorf was opened to traffic.

Due to the poor state of the existing timber structure, GRASSL was commissioned to carry out the design of a new bridge to replace the existing one. The new superstructure is a prestressed arch with a span length of 45.2 m and a width of 4.5 m.

The special thing about this pilot project is that the BIM method was used for the slender arch bridging an arm of the Alster River. This was the first time that this method had been used in a bridge project in Hamburg for work phases 1 to 6, as well as for the construction phase.
