Lecture at Symposium Brückenbau

Article on the public transport bridge in the Regnitz Valley

At the 22nd Symposium Brückenbau (Bridge Construction Symposium) in Leipzig on 15 and 16 February 2022, Angelika Feil and Julian Seisenberger will present the design for the public transport crossing in the Regnitzgrund in Erlangen, which was awarded first place in the design competition.

The new bridge will become part of the Stadt-Umland-Bahn tram system for the metropolitan region, StUB for short, which is currently being planned and will link the cities of Nuremberg, Erlangen and Herzogenaurach. The winning design for the approximately 1.5 km long bridge is an innovative, integral steel–concrete composite bridge in weather-resistant structural steel, which creates a sustainable and economic crossing for the public transport system in Erlangen. With the integration of a fast cycle route, the bridge also serves as a roof to shelter cyclists and pedestrians from strong sunlight and rain.
