S-Bahn bridge over the Bille River

Video of construction during track closure

ARGE Züblin /SAM has erected a new tied arch for DB-Netz AG, Hamburg, which carries the double-track DB railway line 1244 (Hamburg Central Station – Aumühle (S-Bahn)) over the Bille River.

The new superstructure was installed during a railway track closure from 4 to 5 March 2020. Heavy-load vehicles positioned the superstructure on scaffolding which had been erected on a pontoon. The superstructure was then transported to its final position by the pontoon and installed.

Dr Schneider of GRASSL supervised the checking of the structural design and of the welding for the substructure, the superstructure, all construction states, auxiliary constructions, scaffolding and the floating process.

Spot checks were carried out during the manufacture of the steel structure in the factory and on site.
