Maintaining Baukultur
Structures have a high socioeconomic value, and their maintenance is one of our core areas of activity.
Our strong team, equipped with all the necessary technology, checks several hundred bridge and traffic structures, tunnels, hydraulic structures, buildings and special structures each year. Our experienced specialists investigate damage and analyse its cause.
If structures need to be assessed, our engineers use the most modern numerical and fracture mechanics approaches to carry out realistic predictions, risk assessments, service life analyses and damage analyses.
Structural inspection
We carry out regular structural assessments and make recommendations for the maintenance of built infrastructure of all kinds. The efficient use of our drones or tunnel scans are becoming increasingly important for these tasks. All engineering structures of infrastructure or building projects are inspected according to the governing standards, such as DIN 1076, WSV 2101, VDI guideline 6200, RÜV and Ril 804.
Besides the execution, design and organisation of the necessary access technology including its independent operation, we offer services such as obtaining the required authorisations for road, railway and water works, as well as ensuring work safety. We are very experienced in the design and on-schedule execution of structure and bridge inspections of large-scale projects such as highway construction projects or long-lasting real estate projects.
Specific damage analysis
Specific damage analysis is carried out if the damage requires additional investigations beyond the structural inspection.
Experienced specialists (coating inspectors, welding engineers, certified design experts etc.) execute investigations using modern measurement technology and monitoring systems as well as non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
A further damage assessment according to RI-EBW-PRUF is carried out and suitable measures for maintenance including a cost estimate are proposed.
Verification analysis of existing structures
We carry out verification analysis for your structures, be it road or railway bridges, supporting structures, tunnels or hydraulic structures, for reasons such as change of utilisation, damage, widening or planned demolition. Our team has executed verification analysis of hundreds of bridges and engineering structures with various structural systems and boundary conditions for all levels of the verification guidelines. Various construction materials such as steel, concrete, prestressed concrete and steel–concrete composite and several structural systems have been investigated, and special topics such as fatigue of prestressing tendons, dynamics or innovative verification approaches have been addressed, such as stochastic analysis to assess the early warning behaviour of tendons at risk of stress corrosion cracking.
